Karlos Vémola has a really tough year ahead of him. He currently has three fights scheduled, with his first opponent being Al Matavao. He is the clear favourite in the fight, however, the co-owner of Oktagon admits that if he underestimates, he may be surprised.

Al Matavao, Patrik Kincl, Attila Végh. That’s the order Karlos Vémola currently has his fights scheduled in, with one more easily squeezed in between second and third.

But it all depends on how he handles his previous duels. The last time we saw him was last summer when he stopped Aleksandar Ilic in the first round, then health complications came and the fight with Kinclo had to be postponed.

Now it seems that he is fine again and we will see him on April 15 at the tournament in Liberec. Many believe that Matavao is an easy bite, but Végh and co-owner Pavel Neruda have a different opinion.

“We’ve heard people comment like this several times and then it turned out exactly the opposite. I’m basing it more on what Attila said. We had lunch together and he told me that he was a brutally tough opponent and that he could easily beat him.

And if Attila is worried about Carlos, that clearly says that Al Matavo is a legitimate opponent. I think so too, of course. He may underestimate him, Al Matavo has it in him. A lot of people are asking what happens if Karlos loses to Patrick.

But there’s also the question of what would happen if he already lost to Al Matavao. That would be a big silence in the hall,” Neruda told Sport.cz. The silence would be comparable to when David Kozma fell to Kaiko Brito in Ostrava.

Vémola will have to set his mind to make sure that there will be no underestimation. For after that, he will face tougher opponents that he certainly won’t want to leave defeated.
