The legendary Mike Tyson is preparing for his next big fight. At 58 years old, he will face only 27-year-old youtuber Jake Paul, who already has some interesting scalps to his credit. But where does the once star boxer stand?
- Mike Tyson has another fight coming up
- The world legend will be challenged by youtuber Jake Paul
- What is the former champion’s motivation?
He doesn’t need money, he doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone, yet Mike Tyson, at 58 years old, will face another boxing match. He will face 27-year-old YouTuber Jake Paul, who has boxed against former UFC stars Nate Diaz, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, Mike Perry and Anderson Silva.
Against influencers and MMA fighters from the lower weight divisions, Paul did well, but the only time he faced the real and, most importantly, still active boxer Tommy Fury, brother of the star Tyson Fury, he lost.
So it’s a question of what to expect from the fight. There is still speculation about where Iron Mike stands health-wise. Videos have surfaced from time to time questioning his health. On the other hand, we also see videos where Tyson looks like he is still near his best form.
However, it should be mentioned that the fight was supposed to happen on July 20. Now, the date of November 15 is being considered. The duel will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, a famous NFL team. The duel will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Mike Tyson has spoken out about his motivation
Aside from what to expect from the game, fans are also wondering what motivation Mike Tyson actually has. That’s what the boxing legend tried to explain in a recent interview at the Cage Wars 67 gala in New York City.
As he himself pointed out, it’s definitely not money, although according to Jake Paul, it comes to around $40 million, but Iron Mike downplayed that. “Financially, it’s not going to change my life. I’m a man, I want to go into battle, I want to put myself at risk. I want to know who I am, and I want to know what else I’m worth,” Junkie quoted the 58-year-old MMA veteran as saying.
“I want to fight in front of the whole world. It’s everything to me, it’s the thing I’ve been doing since I was 14 years old. But training at 58 and training at 20 is different. It’s hard to walk at all now, but in two months I’ll be in perfect shape,” says the former champion.
