Michal Vávra plans for the new season with Koráb Praha to win the Super League of small football

Michal Vávra is a mature 27-year-old guest player of La Plate, he was the first player in the Champions League to find the courage to hit the opponent’s goal in the first match against Azerbaijan. With five important goals, the team and its bulk of the squad, currently carrying the European title, plotted La Plate’s successful semi-final future in the 2022 Champions League.

After the very successful performance of the exemplary G.I.C La Plate Hanspaul team in this year’s EMF Champions League in Montenegro, we asked the entire roster of players to answer a few questions, which we would also like to use in this way to introduce the most successful Czech small football team in history, a participant and semi-finalist of the Champions League.

Michal, can you briefly introduce yourself and tell us something about yourself, your life, your family, your studies and your work?

My name is Michal Vávra, I started football in the south of Bohemia in Dynamo Budějovice and today I play for Třeboradice. I come from Český Krumlov, where I always like to come back to see my family and friends.

You play small football at the highest level, what does sport, football and small football mean to you?

Small football and sport in general means for me a great way to fill my free time, family atmosphere, team, movement and most importantly the opportunity to experience irreplaceable moments, such as the Champions League in Montenegro.

Where or at what point did the moment come when you started to see the opportunity to play for the Champions League?

We were already determined to qualify for the LM before the CNP with the Lucián team, where it didn’t work out, and in the end I was approached by the guys from La Plate to complete their squad and I’m very grateful to them.

How did you feel before the very first group game, when you played against the tournament favourite, half of which was occupied by the national team – the reigning European champions?

I felt and told myself, like every game I play, that I had to enjoy myself on the pitch and fight for a good result. I’m not a person who gets stressed, so those two things were the main things and that mood accompanied me throughout the tournament.

How did you enjoy the LM tournament in Montenegro and what did you like the most?

I liked the tournament overall, the pitch was excellent, with a few exceptions there was a fair atmosphere during the matches.

What were the conditions for your success, which you achieved and thus completely surprised everyone?

The conditions were great, we had transport to the pitch every day, we had excellent breakfasts and a swimming pool. I can’t say half a word.

What was the team like, what and who encouraged you to perform so well?

The gang in the team, that’s a chapter in itself, I think it came together as a gang with a capital P. We all sat down, we were able to make fun of each other, but as soon as we stepped on the pitch you could feel that we were fighting, we were pulling together and we all wanted to get the best result.

I was very pleased with that and it was the basis for the success we had in Montenegro. The opponents were also humble.

And what are your future plans, do you have any unfulfilled dreams?

With the Koráb Praha team we are going for the victory in the Super League of small football. It’s going to be a long and difficult road, but the team is strong and if we travel with a similar line-up to the first game in Pilsen, I think we can once again pleasantly surprise all the opponents we face.
