After he announced his departure from the Russian ACA, there was speculation about where his next steps would lead. Now it is clear, the biggest European MMA organization KSW has won, where Michal Martinek has signed a contract and will soon show his face to the fans.

Michal Martínek announced after the war started that although he has a very good relationship with the Russian ACA, he has decided not to work there now. So he agreed to end his contract with it and the organization didn’t give him any trouble.

He had several options, he could have fought under the Octagon, where he had already won the title, or under the RFA, but in the end he decided to go abroad and accepted the offer of the Polish KSW.

“The decision was made because I liked to wrestle outside, outside that imaginary comfort zone. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, but I just want new challenges. I’m proud to have been an Octagon champion. But as an athlete, I’m just interested in traveling, meeting new people and I want to leave something of myself out there,” he said in an interview with iSport.

He won’t have to wait long for his first fight. He will fight on June 18, when he will take on Poland’s Filipek Stawowy, who has won 10 of his 12 fights.

“He’s such a colossus. I think we’re the same height fighters, which is nice for me because I’ve been going out with some pretty giants the last four fights. I think he’s a good opponent for a first fight. He has eight KO finishes out of nine fights,” Martinek described his opponent.

He then admitted that he won’t make as much money in KSW as he does in the ACA. RFA offered him more money than KSW, but he still chose a different path that made more sense for him.
