Oktagon 35 with the middleweight title fight is coming up
Oktagon 35 in Brno is coming! Already this Saturday we will see another tournament of the biggest domestic MMA organization, where we will see in the main fight of the evening French fighter Alex Lohoré. He has earned a title shot with his last two wins.
His opponent will be the current middleweight champion Patrik Kincl. The fans have named the fight between the two fighters “Battle of Vémolu”. The reason is clear, the winner will probably face the Czech Terminator at the end of the year.
After winning the welterweight title against Serbian Ilic, he announced his return to the 84 kg weight class. Given his status and recent performances within the division in the Octagon, we expect him to jump straight into a title fight against the winner of Saturday’s bout.
One of the headliners, Alex Lohoré, fires back at Vemola
Alex Lohoré has already fought Vemola at Oktagon 20 in December 2020. Back then, he was no match for the rangy Karlos, though he put in a likeable performance. In a fight that took place mostly on the ground, he withstood the pressure of the Terminator for five full rounds.
What does Alex think of Vemola and his standing in the Octagon? “He’s losing too many kilos and breaking the rules of what we do, which is being professional athletes,” said Lohoré in an interview with iSport.cz.
“We don’t take banned supplements, we are not shot from the things he takes,” he accused the biggest star of the Octagon of doping. “Everyone knows he’s just not natural,” he said of the Terminator.
“I realize he’s one of the biggest stars that sells tickets, but if the Octagon really wants to move forward as an organization, they need the right king and that’s me,” the 32-year-old Frenchman said confidently.
He also took his employer, Oktagon, to task
“When I’m champion, it would be nice to ask Oktagon to test us for banned substances before the rematch,” he wishes the organization would test its fighters. Asked how big of a problem it is that the Octagon doesn’t test its fighters , he said.
“All the big organizations test their fighters, whether you want to go to the UFC, Bellator, there’s no cheating, they test their fighters and produce real athletes,” he fired back at his current employer.
“If Octagon wants to reach the next level and compete with the biggest names on the market, I recommend testing,” he expressed his wish. “Maybe it would be good to start with title fights only, so that the Oktagon belt has more value,” he added.
