Leipzig reacts to crisis by sacking coach! We have to be better, club boss knows
Leipzig can’t seem to find their feet after Julian Nagelsmann’s departure to Bayern Munich. That’s why change is coming. Jesse Marsch, who was supposed to be the perfect replacement for the talented German coach, is out as coach.

Failure? Leipzig clearly wish that such a word did not exist in the club’s lexicon, at least. But everything can’t always go smoothly.
From the founding of RB Leipzig until this season, everything has been perfect. Progress, great performances, great results. Even among the elite. But now the progress of improvement has sort of stopped, and what’s more, the deterioration has come.
Last season, the Saxon team was still in a beautiful second place under the then coach Julian Nagelsmann, but now he is the manager of Bayern and he is doing very well. But the same cannot be said for Leipzig, whom he left.
He was replaced at the helm by Jesse Marsch, until then coach of Red Bull Salzburg. It was to be a beautiful continuity and a sophisticated functional system for Red Bull. But it didn’t quite work out.
After halfway through the Bundesliga season, Leipzig are in 11th place with just 18 points and a 25:18 record. Moreover, they have lost three league games in a row. It’s not even a great success in the Champions League, where the team is not even sure of progressing to the spring phase of the Europa League.
Apart from the results, the team has not been very successful in terms of play either. That is why the club management hopes that it will improve by replacing the coach. Marsch has been removed from his position and the club wants to announce his successor as soon as possible.
“It was not an easy decision, I respect Jesse as a coach and a person. It’s a shame that it didn’t work out and this move became necessary. The objectives were not met. With this decision we want to give the team a new impetus. We have a strong team that must exercise its potential and quality to the full,” let the club’s boss Oliver Mintzlaff hear.
Marsch is not worried about the sacking. On the contrary. He is grateful to have been given the chance. He’s just sorry that he couldn’t reverse the failed start to the season. He wished the fans and the club that Leipzig would quickly find good form and achieve their goals.
