The duel between Leipzig and PSG was really attractive. We saw a few twists and turns, 4 goals, an equaliser in stoppage time or a missed penalty. The match also had an unpleasant ending when Leipzig coach Jesse Marsch complained about the referee.

Leipzig sent Christopher Nkunku into the lead in the 8th minute, and it could have been even happier a few minutes later. But a penalty taken by Andre Silva was saved by the excellent Gianluigi Donnarumma.

And PSG kicked into high gear. Before half-time, the Parisians turned the score around thanks to two goals from Gini Wijnaldum.

But the drama continued as Leipzig pushed for an equaliser in the second half. It was only in the 92nd minute when Dominik Szoboszlai converted the second penalty. Neymar tried to stop him before the ball was played.

“He asked me: ‘Do you give it?‘”, Szoboszlai told reporters after the game. “I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Are you sure?’ And I said: ‘ I turn it over every time!’ Szoboszlai revealed his pre-match interview with Neymar.

The Brazilian star was the main topic of the post-match press conference. Leipzig coach Marsch complained about the head referee, who gave him a yellow card for loud protests in the first half.

“It’s hard to get respect from referees. It looked like the referee wanted to get Neymar’s autograph!” said Marsch at the press conference. And he continued his anger at the referee.

“I have the feeling that the referees favour the big teams over the small ones,” Marsch lashed out.
