Kozma on fighting the Brit: If I survive the first round, and I will, I’ll start breaking him! Both Kincl and Vémola believe in him
David Kozma has another tough game ahead of him. Brazilian fighter Kaik Brito will try to take his title. The champion believes he can make the fight. Patrik Kincl and Karlos Vémola also believe in him.
David Kozma has another tough game ahead of him. Brazilian fighter Kaik Brito will try to take his title. The champion believes he can make the fight. Patrik Kincl and Karlos Vémola also believe in him.
Kozma will be making his sixth defence, he also started a slight shake-up
David Kozma was the first and so far the only man to rule and dominate the welterweight division in the Octagon. The latter is the most loaded in the entire organization, with some truly top fighters.
However, the champion continues to exceed expectations and himself, and can beat anyone who gets in his way. Now his opponent will be Kaik Brito, who revealed in an interview with Ruik that he believes he will be the champion.
Based on one of the Brazilian fighter’s answers, Kozma launched a mild trash talk. He even called Brito a dementor, to which the champion’s challenger was understandably quick to respond.
So the fight is getting a great momentum and there is a lot to look forward to. Neither fighter is going into the fight complacent and we are in for a very exciting and attractive battle.
I’ll start breaking it down after the first round, says Kozma
Kaik Brito has a habit of ending fights early. However, David Kozma is not going to let him do that. “I’ll go in there at the edge of my strength if that’s what it takes. I won’t let the title be taken away,” he expressed in the documentary The Road to OKTAGON 37.
“Brito is one of the best fighters in the Octagon. He’s extremely dangerous. He’s won everything in the first round. If I survive the first round, and I will survive the first round, I’m going to break him mentally. He can’t last five rounds,” the champion is clear.
But the Brazilian doesn’t give up easily. He even offered an interesting challenge and encouraged Kozma to sign an eight-round fight, which would understandably be very interesting. Besides, Brito says the longer the champion can resist, the more he’ll cut him.
Kozma, however, is working on conditioning in a big way. He’s been preparing to block punches as well, which he’ll certainly use against Brito.
Kozma is trusted by both Kincl and Vémola
“All my life I’ve believed that I can get there to make a living in this sport. But I never counted on being the number one in Czechoslovakia, people will recognize me, I will sell out Ostravar Arenas. I didn’t expect to get to that level. I am living my dream,” says Kozma.
But the Brazilian wants to deprive him of that dream. The Pink Panther, however, leaves nothing to chance and in preparation he has also trained with Patrik Kinclo, the middleweight champion.
Kozma believes that if he shows good quality and good performance just with Kinclo, who is also a weight higher, he should have no problem with the Brit and other lighter opponents.
Moreover, Kincl has expressed his confidence in him. “He has stepped up a few things, he has stepped up his punches. I see David at his best,” the middleweight champion is clear.
Karlos Vémola also trusts the welterweight king. He says Kozma will win easily, mainly because of the weight advantage. Terminator believes that all the champion needs to do is survive the first round and then he will clearly dominate the fight.
