There’s nothing stopping it anymore. OKTAGON 43 is around the corner and with it the expected rematch. In addition, Patrik Kincl and Karlos Vémola have their last public staredown behind them. During the public weigh-in they expressed their feelings and made their predictions.
Patrik Kincl as middleweight champion and defending champion, Karlos Vémola as welterweight champion and now as a challenger who wants to be a double champion.
The duel was supposed to take place in December, unfortunately it didn’t happen. However, a May date has been arranged and on Saturday the packed O2 Arena will see a spectacular show. Both are among the absolute Czech top.
On Friday morning both fighters successfully fulfilled the mandatory weight limit and before the evening they were still waiting for the public weigh-in together with the last staredown, which can sometimes tell a lot.
While Vémola looked confident at the public weigh-in and gave out the killer stares as always, Kincl came in rather relaxed. However, when the staredown was over and he was given a chance to speak more, fans thought he was flustered and had a slightly shaky voice.
It is Kincl’s head that may be the factor that decides the whole game. However, this is speculation. Now, we have not witnessed anything like what we experienced during the legendary Terminators staredown with Attila Vegh.
Kincl and Vémola both believe in an early end
Both fighters were still given the opportunity to express their feelings and voice their prediction. First to speak was Karlos Vémola, who once again announced his desire to be a two-time champion.
“The nervousness is definitely great because I see the great interest. And how many double champions do you have here? It’s all about everything. I’m setting big goals for myself, I want to prove that hard work beats talent and I’m going to do it on Saturday. Prediction? I’ll finish him by the third round. Of course, TKO for all the crap and taunts he’s been doing to my face,” Terminator let slip.
Patrik Kincl didn’t mention nervousness among his feelings. On the contrary. He announced that he felt great. Above all, he is glad that the rematch will actually take place after five years.
“Nothing will prevent it from being a terrible war tomorrow. I’ll give it my all. My prediction? I would see it as the first round will be pressure. Then Karl won’t have the energy for anything else, so if I don’t hit him in the first round, we’ll go home in the second round, actually to the press conference, and then celebrate. I’m looking forward to it,” said Inspector.
