Kincl on booing the new British champion: how much more should a fighter earn your respect, appreciation and applause?
Oktagon 37 is over and although the starting lineup didn’t suggest it would be an exceptional tournament, the opposite was true. We saw a large number of finishes and even a change in the long-time champion. However, there was boos for Kaiko Brito after the announcement, which didn’t sit well with Patrik Kinclo.

The Octagon 37 tournament was well worth it. For the first time, two title fights were on display, plus more than half of the fights ended in KOs. We also saw a change of champion.
Many believed in another defense of David Kozma, but he could not withstand the pressure of Kaiko Brito and finally the referee Jan Voborník decided to end the fight as it could have been a threat to the health of the Czech fighter.
The hall was silent, Kozma has a huge fan base in Ostrava and they were disappointed with his defeat. After the announcement of the winner there were boos from several sides.
Most of them applauded, although they did not agree with the result, but the booing was not justified. Brito deserved the win and gave an excellent performance. Patrik Kincl sees it similarly.
“I’ve been watching Octagon 37 from home to keep up with other training sessions and as I always say, the card you probably least expect it from gets you up off your seats and me off the couch. Big respect to David Kozma.
You have to like the guy as an athlete and as a person. He took the loss like a pro, even though it must be tearing him apart inside. Congratulations to the new champion! He put on a great performance that night.
And a big middle finger to the rednecks who booed the Brit when he was announced. What more should a fighter do to earn your respect, appreciation and applause?” kincl said.
Brito even was humble after the fight, which makes this behavior of a part of the audience even more incomprehensible. After the press conference, he told our website a few words in the booth.
