Just food? Ilic is the best middleweight in the Octagon after his win over the Russian legend! He leapfrogs Kinzel, attacks Muradov
Aleksandar Ilic was already seen as mere fodder before his fight with Karlos Vemola. After the fight, which ended in the first round, it was no different. However, he recently defeated the Russian legend and has now reached his career high in the world rankings.
Aleksandar Ilic was already seen as mere fodder before his fight with Karlos Vemola. After the fight, which ended in the first round, it was no different. However, he recently defeated the Russian legend and has now reached his career high in the world rankings.
On Friday, the Serbian fighter took care of a sensation. He was able to defeat Russian MMA legend Alexander Shlemenko on RCC soil. It is worth noting that Shlemenko was the 31st best middleweight fighter before the fight according to Fight Matrix rankings.
Shlemenko is also much more experienced than Aleksandar Ilic. After all, despite his loss to the Oktagon fighter, he boasts a phenomenal 61:14 record.
And especially in the middleweight division. In his fight with Karlos Vemola, it was clear that he is lighter. He was no match for the Terminator’s strength. However, Octagon has plans for him and after a valuable win, it can be expected that he will direct them to the middleweight division.
In fact, Ilic is the top ranked middleweight in the Octagon according to Fight Matrix rankings. He is at a great 54th place, which is his career high. This puts him ahead of champion Patrik Kinclo, who is ranked 61st.
To make matters worse, Ilic has moved closer to UFC fighter and former Octagon star Makhmud Muradov. He is currently ranked 51st.
Ilic is facing exclusively UFC fighters. There are also several fighters from other top organizations in the world. He can be expected to improve his position considerably. And who knows, maybe he’ll work his way up to a rematch with Vemola in a different weight class.
