Judge Touš commented on the Vémola vs. Marpo match: The Terminator should have received penalty points, I wouldn’t have finished the fight

The boxing match between Carlos Vemola and Marpo may be a few days in the past, but the topic still resonates in the world of combat sports. Now the Oktagon referee Pavel Touš, who was the supervisor of the fight, has commented on the duel.
It was a great night. We were just waiting for the big finish. But it didn’t come. The fight between Karlos Vemola and Marpo was really unattractive, moreover, with the so far criticized premature ending.
The whole fight was very much on the line. Not just in the media and the combat sports community, but everywhere. Marpo was angry, even Vemola wasn’t happy. There was talk that when the referee wanted to stop the fight, he should have warned Marpo. But it didn’t happen and it couldn’t happen.
The referee Pavel Touš, who we may know from the Octagon, was the supervisor in that fight. He revealed on the Karlos Show that if a boxing match is staged, it is stopped straight away without counting.
Besides, he criticized the way the fight was fought. “I don’t want to criticize Marpo for not defending himself or you for pushing with your head. The fight is run the way the referee lets it run. If he lets you work against the rules, he should warn you and take away your point,” Touche was heard to say.
He said Vemola was clearly breaking the rules by constantly pushing with his head. “It wasn’t Vémola’s fault. If the referee doesn’t stop you, give you a minus point and teach you a lesson, it will affect the match. And it affected it to the detriment of Marpo,” he added.
While Touš does not claim that the match would have had a different result then, it certainly could have been a different and, more importantly, many times more attractive match.
And what about the early termination? Touš would have let the match go on just because it was an exhibition. Besides, in his opinion, neither fighter deserved the fight because of the way they promoted the fight and the way they worked for it. The ring referee, however, could have seen it differently, of course.
