Ilic complains again about Vemola’s weight for title fight
Aleksandar Ilic came to the biggest domestic MMA organization straight into a title fight. He faced the king of the Octagon himself, Karlos Vemola, at Prague’s Štvanici Stadium as part of the Oktagon 34 tournament. He didn’t even last one round and the welterweight championship belt stayed at home.
Immediately after the fight, however, he complained that his opponent was much heavier in the bout and the Serbian was no match for the Czech Terminator’s power. However, he would now prefer to come in at his natural weight of 84 kg.
“I was surprised that Vémola was about ten kilos heavier in the fight itself,” Joker lamented on The MMA Pulse. “He was much heavier than Janikowski, for example, and there’s a reason the weight classes are there,” he complained.
“When a fighter that much heavier wants to take you down, he’ll just do it,” the Serbian fighter quipped. Before the fight, he warned Vemola that he would not get him on the ground and the title would go to Serbia.
“JOKER” challenges an interesting opponent
“I’d be interested in the former footballer who is building an artificial story for him,” he challenged Christian Eckerlin. “I just don’t recognise fake fighters,” he said of the German fighter, who last appeared at Oktagon 33, held in Frankfurt.
Eckerlin’s bout with Brazil’s Oliveira ended prematurely then, when the German likely faked a kick to his groin and then finished his opponent. ” When I saw the way Eckerlin won his last fight, I don’t understand how he could be happy about such a win,” Ilic said.
“I’ll fight him at his place in Frankfurt and show him what a real fighter looks like,” he offered a possible date at an October gala in Germany. However, the German fighter’s rematch with Brazilian Oliveira is already on the Oktagon website.
