Octagon 38 at the end of December this year will surely be a unique spectacle. Not only will the biggest domestic MMA organization end a very successful fight year, but it will offer above all a duel that all MMA fans of the domestic scene are waiting for.
Two irreconcilable rivals who won’t leave a thread on each other will fight for the middleweight title. Current champion Patrik Kincl faces top challenger Karlos Vémol and will have a unique opportunity to avenge his 2018 defeat within the XFN organization.
Both fighters have come a long way since that clash and will get the opportunity to measure their strengths again after four years. Karlos Vémola took advantage of his weight advantage in the first bout and regularly tormented his opponent on the ground, but Kincl fiercely resisted and it was up to the judges’ scorecards to decide Vémola’s victory.
How does the current champion Kincl see the rematch? “I will go into the rematch in the best possible shape,” he said in an interview with iSport.cz. “The fight is a big motivation,” admits the current holder of the middleweight belt of Oktagon.
“I have priceless experience from the first fight and I know how to use it,” said the thirty-three-year-old fighter. “I’m definitely going out there to win and give my best performance,” he believes in his abilities and revenge for the first fight.
Many experts see an opportunity for Vemola to get inside his opponent’s head with his classic trash talk. “It’ s definitely personal,” confirmed Kincl. “For over four years I’ve been listening to all kinds of insults and comments about me and now I have the opportunity to discuss it in person.”
Will he get his reckoning in the form of a Terminator scalp or will Vemola become the champion of two weight classes and the undisputed king of the Octagon? The denouement of this great story will be revealed on December 30 at the O2 Arena in Prague.
