Islam Dulatov thus destroyed the Greek, then paid him homage. He’ll share the bonus with his countryman, and he’s asked for a rival
He was talked about as a big German star with huge potential. He was supposed to be a terror. But his reputation was to be confirmed in his first fight in the Octagon. In it, Islam Dulatov faced a seasoned Greek, whom he destroyed uncompromisingly. The hype around him is justified. The Czechoslovak organization has caught a big animal.
He has lost only one fight in his professional career so far. The very first one. On points. In 2019, he was beaten by Gjoni Palokaj, who took on Jaroslav Pokorný at the OKTAGON 53 gala in Oberhausen, whom he also managed to beat on points.
However, not only has Palokaj moved on a lot since then, he has also changed weight classes, as he is currently at featherweight.
Islam Dulatov, who is currently one of Germany’s biggest aces, has made even more progress. Even before his first bout in the organization, his reputation as a great prospect and a huge beast preceded him.
The fact was, however, that no one had yet properly tested him. He didn’t have a downright tough opponent. But his 9-1 record was awe-inspiring. Plus, all of his wins had come before the limit, eight times ending the fight in the first round.
Islam Dulatov was a perfect storm. In the first minute the first blood was spilled, overall it was a one-sided domination. The German was destroying his opponent. He had a lot to do to survive to the end of the first round. Who knows how he almost succeeded.
With one second left in the first five minutes, the fight was stopped after a brutal knee to the bottom. The twenty-five year old fighter scored his tenth win, his tenth stoppage and the biggest scalp of his career to date.
Islam Dulatov showed character in addition to his qualities
It was no surprise when Islam Dulatov received a cash bonus for his performance of the night. He thanked. However, he equally revealed at the press conference that he would give half of it to his friend David Zawada, who provided a sensational turnaround in his duel with Hojat Khajevand.
Afterwards, the German prospect was given the opportunity to comment on the match. On the contrary, I felt better than ever. People talked about me a lot. They were bad-mouthing me. I heard that I wasn’t good enough. But now I showed what I have.”
The 25-year-old fighter also paid tribute to his opponent. “Palaiologos deserves all the respect. I knocked out seven sparring matches during my preparation. He was tough. Extremely. I didn’t expect him to stand so much, I know my strength. I expected him to last two minutes, but he was really unreal,” praised the Greek.
Islam Dulatov went into the fight knowing that either he would be KO’d or someone would simply fall asleep. He even tried for a submission, but that didn’t work out.
What’s next? He doesn’t have a specific name in mind, but he does have one idea: “ Apollo would be an interesting opponent. When he fought Christian Eckerlin, he said he was getting revenge for Oliveira. I want revenge for Eckerlin. I’m here. We’ll see what happens next.”
