Ronald Paradeiser is one of the top lightweights and after his loss to Losen Keita he is determined to fight for the title. In Ostrava, at the OKTAGON 37 tournament, he undoubtedly claimed his chance, finishing his opponent in a matter of seconds.

A sold-out Ostravar Arena watched the OKTAGON 37 gala on Saturday night. The event featured some great and attractive fighters, including those of Ostrava origin.

One of the biggest draws was Ronald Paradeiser, but his opponent was changing. In the end it was Felipe Da Silva Maia, a skilful Brazilian who excels especially in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

It was going to be a tough test, but the Brazilian struggled with the weight alone. The fight was at the agreed weight of 73 kilograms, and in order for Maia to make weight at all, he had to be supported by people from his team.

Then when the fight came, right from the start Paradeiser looked much better, more alive, more active. And that’s what it came down to when it was all over after 21 seconds. The Slovakian fighter knocked out his opponent.

Paradeiser scored an important win. It could also make him another top opponent, and it’s not out of the question that he could be in a title fight again next year.

He didn’t make his only title fight in January 2021, and Ivan Buchinger defeated him in half of one round by rear-naked choke. However, he subsequently defeated Arda Adas and Gilber Ordonez.

He followed that up with a pivotal bout against Losen Keita, losing to the latter in a five-round battle on the boots, and didn’t get a second title shot. He followed that up with a win over Iamik Furtado and has now beaten Maia.
