In less than a month’s time, the biggest Oktagon event of recent years is on the docket. The best of the best will face off at the Štvanici Arena, with the highlight being a title fight between Karlos Vemola.
However, it is slightly in jeopardy. Or it would be under normal circumstances, as Vémola is unable to train fully due to his injury.
“I woke up in terrible pain, I haven’t experienced anything like this for a long time. And I didn’t understand it, because usually when I tear a ligament, it hurts right away when I train. I had a hard training in Monster Gym, but the pain woke me up,” he told iSport.
“I sent a picture to the doctor and he guessed it could be a torn muscle. But in the end it turned out that my bursa (bursitis, inflammation of the joint bursa) was inflamed. I have a terrible infection in it. I think it’s because when my right hand hurts, I save it and unknowingly put more strain on my left hand. Fortunately, nothing is torn off and nothing needs to be operated on,” he added.
Thus, Vemola runs the risk of not being able to fully recover for the match. He also has to concentrate thoroughly on his weight.
He didn’t manage it before his last fight with Milan Datelinka and lost his belt. But now he intends to regain it.
