He was preparing Hardy for Venom, boxing without gloves, now he’s facing Skvor. Will the Czech accept the challenge? I couldn’t refuse the Octagon, says Dan Vinni
Dan Vinni is the new acquisition of the Octagon. He is a British fighter with a very interesting and impressive resume. Daniel Škvor, who has not yet answered the interesting challenge, will measure his strength in Liberec. In an interview with Ruik, Vinni praised the Octagon, reminisced about his training sessions with Tom Hardy and hyped up the fans for his fights.

Dan Vinni. An interesting new face in the Octagon. A fighter with all the right stuff. He’s not afraid of a challenge. Promoter Ondřej Novotný revealed that he is considered a legend in England, as he is a huge tough guy who has been through a lot.
And that he has been through a lot is evidenced by the fact that he fought in the BKFC organization until relatively recently. Doesn’t that ring a bell? It’s the biggest organization that puts on boxing galas without gloves.
Interestingly, for example, Sherdog, a respected site that counts fighters’ records, has not recorded the last few fights of the 35-year-old Briton. Why? Because they were fights under modified rules.
“Who are they to decide that? Throughout the history of MMA, we use different rules. Even today. And now somebody decides that some rules don’t count towards the record?” vinni expressed reproachfully in an interview with Ruik.
Trying to deliver attractive fights, says Vinni
Dan Vinni quickly put the minor gripe behind him and then began to introduce himself to the Oktagon fans. At the same time, he tried to give them a hint of what to expect from him.
“I always try to deliver entertaining and attractive matches. I hope to reassure the fans how important this is to me. I appreciate the fans supporting the sport so much,” the Englishman let it be known.
“I would like to have a lot of fights in the Octagon. I’m moving to Prague next month. I truly believe that the Octagon is one of the best organizations in the world. I’ve been trying to get into the Octagon for a few years. When the offer came, I was very happy,” he admits.
It is worth mentioning that Vinni’s wife is Czech. But according to him, she had no influence and did not play any major role in the decision to sign up for Oktagon.
And how does Vinni feel about boxing without gloves? “It reminds me of old school MMA in the sense that it’s in the early stages of development. I enjoy it a lot,” he admits. And if it weren’t for the Octagon, he’d continue bareknuckling.
Skvor? The fight will be over before the limit, the Englishman expects
On Saturday, April 15, Dan Vinni will be in Liberec. His opponent will be Daniel Škvor, who needs to recover from his loss to Jorick Montagnac. The Czech fighter sees the Englishman as a groundskeeper, as he is a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
But Vinni offered Skvor that they could just box in the fight. So he wanted to give him a chance in the stand-up. “I wanted to draw more attention to our fight by doing that. We are both seasoned veterans, it would be pointless to create some fake drama,” Vinni explained his offer.
“Skvor is a great fighter. He has made good progress after moving into MMA. I was disappointed that he didn’t really respond to my offer. I think we would have made it the best fight for the fans,” he says.
Besides, Skvor said in one of the training videos that he is ready for Vinni as a ground fighter as well. What does the Englishman say? “I’ve never fought in a way to get the fight to the ground on purpose. Sometimes it comes out that way. All the more reason to embrace the boxing, don’t you think? We’re both undefeated in it, so we can sort it out.”
According to Vinni, then, we shouldn’t blink too much in a fight: ” The vast majority of my fights end before the limit. I wouldn’t expect anything different even now.”
The Octagon will be one of the major players in MMA, Vinni is clear
“Like I said, Oktagon is one of the best shows in the world in my opinion. Whether it’s the treatment of the fighters or the production of the tournaments. When I was offered a fight, I couldn’t refuse. Although I would like to move on to bareknuckle,” says Dan Vinni with a laugh.
And being from England, the question couldn’t help but come up as to what chance the organisation has in its planned expansion into the UK market.
“The UK market is volatile, but if anyone can be successful here, it’s Octagon. It has the right attributes, talent and great marketing. Itwill be one of the major players in the future of MMA,” the 35-year-old fighter replied.
He has trained with Hardy and Cavill. He says he has no talent for acting
The big interesting fact is that Dan Vinni has had the opportunity to train with several celebrities. Two of the biggest names he has trained with are Tom Hardy and Henry Cavill, very famous and popular actors.
While Hardy was preparing with Vinni for his role in Venom, Cavill was preparing for his role as Superman for a change. The English fighter compared the two actors and their approaches.
“Tom Hardy was great. He’s a really respectful guy. He’s always trying to get better at martial arts. Henry Cavill was a little less committed, so he only got a few lessons,” Vinni says.
“I’ve been privileged to train with a lot of celebrities and some famous athletes. I enjoy coaching and hope to be able to do more of it in the future,” he added.
And would he cut an acting role himself? “I would definitely be open to it in the future, I would love to try it out. Unfortunately, I don’t have any talent for it,” he concluded the interview on a positive note.
