Gábor Boráros spoke about the betting case: How do you sell a match if you win? You can’t sell a match you win
The case of Gábor Boráros has been dragging on for some time, but we had to wait a long time for a more extensive statement from the fighter involved. Now he has come forward with one, but it can’t be said that the arguments are such as to change the minds of most MMA fans.
The case of Gábor Boráros has been dragging on for some time, but we had to wait a long time for a more extensive statement from the fighter involved. Now he has come forward with one, but it can’t be said that the arguments are such as to change the minds of most MMA fans.
In February this year, Gabor fought in the Fabriq MMA organization, in which he won in the second round over Kirill Medvedovski. At first glance there is nothing strange here, but after this fight a scandal arose that still sticks to the Slovakian fighter.
The question on many minds is how could he sell the fight if he won? The reason is that in the fight, he didn’t seem to want to stop his opponent and saved everything until the second round. It was on winning it that the bets were suspicious.
Now Boráros has commented more extensively on the case, as he has a paper from the Slovakian police saying that there is no investigation against him.
“I wanted to comment on this for a long time, but it hasn’t happened yet. I don’t even know what I was waiting for. I had no idea that people would take the whole case so seriously and that they would think they were right. I guess I can start by saying that people thought I sold the game. If he’s got any sense, he should think about it.
How do you sell a fight if you win? What the [bleep] is that? That doesn’t exist. If you lose a fight, you can say somebody sold it. I’m not gonna say if I played, I would have gotten a KO and lost. I’m sure I would’ve gotten a big payday for that, because that was the highest odds. But I won. You can’t sell a game you’ve won.
Secondly, it should also be remembered that I won so that my opponent got hurt. What should I do about it? He took a lot of kicks and got hurt in the second round. Is that why I sold the fight? That doesn’t make sense. It‘s total bullshit. There’s no such thing. You can‘t sell a fight like that,” he told Netky.
We still don’t know where the truth lies. The only thing that is certain is that the continuation in the Octagon is not yet realistic and the earliest we will see Gábor is at a tournament in Hungary in the new organization he founded with his friend.
