Tottenham are doing very well in the new season, as one of the three teams that have not lost a single game so far and with 11 points they look up to the pair of Manchester City (13) and Arsenal (15). Antonio Conte, however, is still not happy, specifically with the transfers, where Spurs are well behind the competition.

Tottenham have been quite unusually active in the transfer market, with only Chelsea (€282 million), Manchester United (€238 million) and West Ham (€182 million) bringing in reinforcements for a bigger sum than the London outfit (€170 million).

However, according to Conte, this is still not enough when the competition has been much more successful in this regard. “I think we did well, but to be honest, when I look at the top teams, I still see a big difference,” the Italian coach told ESPN about the closed transfer window.

Of course, this can be backed up by numbers, as Tottenham’s squad is worth €657 million, €100 million less than Manchester United’s and even €350 million less than Manchester City’s. Among the Manchester teams there are also Liverpool (883 million euros) and Chelsea (799 million euros).

From Tottenham, 13 players left and 19 players arrived. The biggest reinforcements are undoubtedly Cristian Romero, who came from Atalanta for 50 million euros, and Richarlison, who cost the London club 58 million euros.

In terms of financial numbers, Spurs do not reach the quality of the top, but it is certainly not visible on the pitch, when at least in terms of results the London team is doing well.

Apart from three wins, Conte’s charges have scored twice for draws with Chelsea and West Ham. While we can certainly say that these are two points for which they can be very happy, they count.

In any case, Spurs can be considered a big favourite to finish in the top four. However, the competition is great and as the Italian coach, who has already won the Premier League with Chelsea, rightly said, the competition has strengthened considerably at the very end of the transfer window and will be nipping at Tottenham’s heels. This is especially true in the case of Chelsea and Manchester United, the two clubs with the more valuable squad.

After Saturday’s game with Fulham, Spurs will have their opening Champions League game against Marseille and then a very interesting contest with Manchester City. Overall, they don’t have an easy schedule ahead of them at all, but who does in the Premier League?
