After the match they buried the hatchet, but the peace between the two combatants did not last long. Only a year after their duel, a rematch of Kincl vs. Vémola was supposed to take place, but Terminator’s transfer and financial problems of the XFN organization ruined the whole event.

An axe buried in plain sight?

It started with an innocent verbal exchange on social media, which grew into one of the biggest rivalries on the Czech MMA scene. As promised, he delivered. Vémola dominated the fight with Kinclo, especially on the ground, but he had a downright tough time in the third round.

After the fight itself, it looked like the feud was over, but their story began another chapter. Although Patrik complimented his opponent immediately after the fight, the fact that he didn’t see the fight through with one eye was eating away at him, and less than two months after the fight, Patrik started calling out fans on his social media to see if they wanted a rematch.

When asked on the XFN fresh talk show if he wanted a rematch then, he responded with an unequivocal yes. “The fight was arranged through social media and I did some market research again to see if people would be interested and there was an interesting debate about it and people are interested, ” Kincl confirmed his interest in a rematch.

The reaction of the fans was contradictory and there were voices for and against. In particular, critics of the fight were giving Terminator a hard time about wanting foreign opponents. “If there will be a rematch, I have already arranged three or four fights with foreign opponents with XFN, the rematch will not be before June,” Vémola responded on his social media.

“I have a family, of course, and all fighters are mercenaries in a way, I’m not ashamed of it. I will face whoever XFN pays me the most for and right now they are paying me the most for Patrik Kinceloe,” he explained the reason for the possible rematch.

Kincl vs. Vémola rematch was ruined by the biggest transfer in the history of the domestic MMA scene

As Vémola demanded before the fight with Kincl, the XFN organization brought him foreign opponents the following year. But the upstart Terminator made all the fights, as did Patrik, and the organization began discussing a rematch. The date was set for June 7, almost exactly a year after their first clash.

But after the new year, things started to get complicated. In February 2019, despite having a valid contract, Karlos Vémola announced his shocking departure from the XFN organization and a move to rival Oktagon. XFN promoter Petr Kareš publicly berated the way Vémola left and even considered legal action. Thus began a war of words and various accusations from both sides.

But it was clear that the Kincl vs. Vémola rematch was not going to happen. XFN did announce a replacement for Kincl in the form of Makhmud Muradov, but the organization’s financial troubles took a rapid turn and the organization was forced to shut down.

Novotny attempted to revive hopes of an Octagon rematch, but so far was unsuccessful

Oktagon promoter Ondřej Novotný called on Patrik Kinc to join the organization at a press conference before the Oktagon 11 tournament. He tried to revive the hopes of organizing a rematch under the Oktagon banner. “As far as Patrik Kinclo is concerned, those who are interested in the scene have seen that he has made contradictory statements,” Novotny said at the press conference.

“On the one hand, he is glad that Karel left the organization and now there will be more space for him and other fighters. On the other hand, he said he hasn’t received an offer from us yet. So now we can officially say: Patrick, if you want, you have our number, you know where to find us. Let’s sit down at the table, and let’s do that next week. Then the door is closed,” he invited Kinzl.

But as we already know, Kincl left for KSW in Poland a year later, and it took another three years for the two rivals to cross paths in the same organization. But we’ll bring you the story of both men in the Octagon in future episodes.
