Vémola has been dealing with a wave of criticism in recent weeks
Karlos Vémola has been taking a huge wave of criticism in recent weeks from much of the fight sports fan community that follows the domestic scene. It all came to a head with his withdrawal from his rematch with Patrik Kinclo, which was scheduled to take place at the end of the year at Prague’s O2 Arena.
The Terminator sent messages to his fans straight from the hospital where he broke the bad news. Due to a thrombosis in his hand, he was fighting for his life and his career as a professional athlete was also in danger.
But shortly after the start of the new year, his health suddenly improved, as evidenced by the many activities he shared on his social media. Following the news regarding the health of its biggest star, Octagon then announced another attempt to make his fight with Kinceloe a reality.
Two weeks ago, however, the organization surprised its fans with the news that just five weeks before the expected rematch, Vemola would make it one more fight. This, of course, has angered many fans and Patrik Kinclo himself, who fear that the fight will not happen again.
The last drop in the cup was then given to the fans of the biggest domestic MMA organization at the weekend tournament in Munich, where Oktagon revealed the opponent of Karlos for the tournament in Liberec. This is Samoan Al Matavao, who is considered an orthodox stand-up fighter and will have a significant physical disadvantage in the fight.
This, of course, was not well received by most of the organization’s fans, who labeled the Samoan fighter as mere fodder. But Karlos has ignored the critics and has planned a killer pace in preparation for his fight for the middleweight championship belt.
Karlos reveals killer pace of preparation
“It’s going to be one o’clock in the morning here in Phuket and I’m still running around outside the Muay Thai Tiger Gym because the weight won’t make itself. That was the main reason why I went to Thailand now for 14 days, because when I was sick and after my illness, I trained mainly technically with Yakuza and because of that I gained a lot of weight and my fitness dropped,” he informed his fans about his ongoing training in Thailand via his Instagram.
“So now we are in Thailand for 2 weeks focusing on hard conditioning because when I come back I have a camp planned in Germany, where besides a lot of great middleweights they also have a dude who beat Kinc in his last fight outside of OKTAGON,” he hinted that he will be moving to the UFD gym in Germany for a camp after returning from Thailand. That’s because that’s where the star Roberto Soldic, who beat Kinc in a title fight in the Polish KSW organization, trains.
“After that I will spend a week in the Czech Republic among the best gyms we have, which are Prague’s Rohovník, Spejbl gym, LANNA with Yakuza, Reinders gym or sparring in Monster gym,” he revealed.
During the preparation, he will visit four foreign gyms
But anyone who thinks that’s a killer pace would deeply underestimate Vemola. Karlos will be heading to two more countries. “Then I will head to Poland, ANKOS, and then I have a training with the guys from London at London Shootfighters,” he confirmed the demanding schedule.
“And after Liberec I have a month to train at Reinders Gym and with the London guys specifically just for Kincla, so keep an eye on that. Even though a lot of people say I won’t be there or that I won’t get it, I will get it. Because the lions eat first, oss,” he ended his post to the fans in the traditional way.
It looks like Vemola is really serious about preparing for his rematch with Patrik Kinclo. We already know from last year that a breakneck pace is simply Karlos’ thing, as he managed three fights in two months after more than a year’s fight fast.
However, we already know the next story regarding his health. So let’s hope the Terminator parts hold up and we get to see the biggest fight possible on the domestic scene.
