After an initial draw, the Czech team won the second match of the European Small-Sided Football Championship, beating Moldova 4-1.
Before the last match against Serbia on Monday, they are leading Group E by a score just ahead of their upcoming opponent. “It’s a very important win for our team, we needed it if we want the first place in the group.
We made too many mistakes against France but we had fun about it and played very compact, we were not nervous. It‘s a good win for us,” rejoiced Brno forward Tomáš Pospiš.
David Presl opened the scoring in the sixth minute and Moldova equalised when Vitalie Plămădeală scored, but František Hakl scored a great goal a quarter of an hour later and Jan Rosůlek four minutes after that. Shortly before the end, the Czech victory was sealed by Blansko’s Ondřej Paděra.
“In small football even five goals mean nothing, we have to play until the last second, like we did against Moldova. I am proud of our whole team,” said Pospiš.
The Czech national team has to do without injured goalkeeper Ondrej Bír, but Brno’s Patrik Levčík has already started against Moldova and his arrival was noticeable.
The Czech team will play Serbia at the Steel Arena in Košice on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Coach Stanislav Bejda’s charges have a better record, as Serbia beat France 3-1.
