Tottenham coach Antonio Conte was very angry at the post-match press conference after the 3-3 draw with Southampton. He mainly criticised the players’ lax attitude towards the club.

We are not a team, we are eleven players going on the pitch. I see selfish players here who don’t want to help each other and don’t play with heart. Up until now I tried to hide this, but now I don’t want to do that,” fumed coach Conte at the post-match press conference

“It’s been like this at Tottenham for 20 years, there’s an owner but they’ve never won anything. Why?” Conte answered his own question, mainly criticising the attitude of the players, which he believes is the club’s main problem.

“I see selfish players here who don’t want to help each other and don’t play with heart, he reiterated, there is no drive, no desire. But you need to have these qualities at all times! If you’re not a team, you can’t improve.”

“If they want to continue like this, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change, believe me,” the Italian strategist concluded.

There is definitely something to that statement. Just remember how many quality coaches have already been replaced in the team. Pochettino, Mourinho and Conte. None of them could win anything with Tottenham.

The club’s maximum is still being in the Champions League final. Conte came to Tottenham with the reputation of a coach who can always motivate the team to the maximum. On the pitch, the team under him always plays in an organised manner, almost as one man.

At the same time, everywhere he came he won something, at least on the domestic scene. However, winning something at Tottenham seems beyond his power.
