Challenge accepted, let’s give the people a fight! Pudilova will probably face Szabova for the title. When will the fight happen?
The Octagon tries to make sure that every weight has a champion. It is no different among the women, but it is not easy. Ondrej Novotny still wants the organization to have a female champion for the first time in its history. This could happen next year.
The Octagon tries to make sure that every weight has a champion. It is no different among the women, but it is not easy. Ondrej Novotny still wants the organization to have a female champion for the first time in its history. This could happen next year.
Lucie Pudilova is a veteran of the UFC, MMA fans don’t need a long introduction. There is no more experienced and bigger name among female fighters on our scene. More or less from the moment she signed with the Octagon, she was expected to fight for the title.
However, there is more than one up-and-coming female wrestler in the organization. In particular, Slovakian Lucia Szabova has made an excellent name for herself. Almost everyone who follows the Octagon is convinced that she will one day break into the UFC.
A fight between these two fighters has been suggested for a long time and it could actually happen soon. Pudilova challenged Szabová on social media on Sunday with a clear message for promoter Ondrej Novotny: ” The audience wants it. Let’s give the people what they want.”
The first Czech woman in the UFC wanted the fight to take place already at the Oktagon 30 tournament, which will take place on December 30. But that won’t be possible. However, the Slovakian accepted her challenge, but asked for a different date.
“We can go for it. I’ll gladly accept a title fight with an opponent like you, but not on December 30,” Szabova responded to Pudilova’s challenge.
Due to health complications, the Slovak fighter had to cancel one of her fights and her start at Octagon 30 is also said to be still uncertain.
“I believe that you are a professional who understands that after such a long break you cannot prepare for a title fight in a month. Give me time to prepare properly so we can give people a proper title fight in the best shape we both are capable of,” Szabo added.
So we have a lot to look forward to in 2021. Let’s hope the organization will confirm and make the fight happen.
