At the last Oktagon tournament, Ronald Paradeiser and Losene Keita faced off for the interim lightweight title. The latter won a beautiful fight on points and will be the closest opponent of the legendary Ivan Buchinger.
The Slovakian fighter admitted on his Instagram that he sees Keita as a very unpleasant opponent, but he is not afraid of him. On the contrary. He wants to show him who the champion is.
When will the fight take place? “The fight will probably be in June, but I’m still ready if I need to step in,” Buchinger said in response to a fan’s question. By understudy, he was of course referring to the fight between David Kozma and Peter Knizhet.
According to his words, Buchinger likes Kozma very much as a friend, he only took the fight with him as a big challenge, which is simply not to be refused. He favours him against the legendary Knizhet.
His fight with Keita is expected to take place at OKTAGON 33, which will be the first tournament to be held outside of Czechoslovakia, hosted by Frankfurt, Germany.
Quite often Buchinger was asked about a possible move to the new RFA organization. The Slovakian fighter said that the first tournament was a great success. For a long time he answered by saying that he has a contract in the Octagon.
However, he is not defending his departure from the Octagon. “After all, we live on money. After the end of the contract I would even consider it in case of a better offer,” said the two-time Oktagon champion.
