OKTAGON 27 offered an interesting spectacle and many great matches. The main attraction was the fight Ivan Buchinger vs. Vojto Barborík. But other duels were also interesting. How did they turn out?

In the first duel of the tournament Stepan Vojcak took on Evgeniy Golub in his debut among professionals (TKO). Matěj Šurin in the second bout checked his fight with Michal Plesnik and scored a win on points.

A balanced and attractive fight was prepared for the fans by Roman Paulus and Szymon Rakowicz, who dominated the Slovakian talent on points. Jonas Magard and Elnur Veliev catered for the main prelims card, the first round offered grappling duels, the second was played almost entirely standing. Magard was the better fighter there, eventually setting up a guillotine and forcing his opponent to tap out.

It is Magard who will probably face Filip Macek at the Pardubice tournament in a battle for the bantamweight title.

The main card opened with Vlasto Čepo and Milos Kostic, the fight didn’t even last a minute. It quickly became a stand-up shootout, but Čepo is right at home there and the fight went accordingly.

Subsequently, Bojan Velickovic scored another win in the Octagon when he took his opponent Carl Prater’s breath away with one of his kicks to win the first round. The fight of Gábor Boráros came down to the points for a change, but he was no match for Mickael Lebout. The latter showed world experience and controlled the match with ease.

But even though Boráros couldn’t win the fight, he won another fight of a lifetime. In fact, he proposed to his partner after the fight, and he was more fortunate in that contest than he was in his fight with the Frenchman.

The main preliminary bout of the evening was also decided by points judges. Mate Kertesz was the more dominant fighter in his bout with Robert Pukac and scored a deserved, but not very attractive, victory.

An incredible spectacle was offered by the title fight, which featured Ivan Buchinger and Vojto Barborik. Surprisingly, it was the former who dominated the first rounds, hitting his opponent several times in a great way and Barborík had to show a really great resistance to withstand Buchinger’s blows.

So Barborik quickly found out that standing up was not the way to win and tried to tie the fight on the canvas, but Buchinger was able to continue to land shots and be dangerous. Even when his younger opponent was able to take him to the ground.

Buchinger won on points in a great fight. He became the first holder of two belts in the Octagon and immediately asked for a third.
