Bratislava is going to have a great show on September 11th. The OKTAGON 27 tournament will feature several excellent fights, dominated by the title match between Ivan Buchinger and Vojto Barborik.
Buchinger is a Slovakian legend and will be fighting for his second Oktagon title. Barborik, however, is not going to accept anything but a win. However, he knows that nothing easy awaits him.
“He’s more experienced than me, but it’s a challenge and I’m not afraid of those. He is definitely one of my toughest opponents. I have a lot to lose, but even more to gain,” Barborik was quoted as saying on Patrick Kinceloe’s Fight & Talk podcast.
Other than that, he’s looking forward to the fight and believes he deserves it and that similar fights will continue to await him. He has a friendly relationship with Buchinger and praised his personality.
“He’s the right person, he has the right qualities. He is humble, he respects the opponent. He’s a true sportsman. There is no bad blood between us, we are friends. But now he is my opponent and in the match it will be different. I’m convinced of my win,” Barborík added.
He is aware that if he wants to fight for world titles, he has to pass this test.
And what are the strongest points of his opponent? He mentioned in particular extreme fitness and the fact that many fighters break down mentally on Buchinger.
“They use their best weapons on him and he keeps coming forward. He turns on in the fourth and fifth rounds and it tires you out and breaks you down mentally. But I’m not going to let that happen,” the quite possibly upcoming featherweight champion is clear.
