Ivan Buchinger lost to Losen Keita on Saturday, he admitted after the game that he wasn’t fully focused and was resigned to the win before entering the cage. What about his flirtation with the rival RFA?
After his loss to Losen Keita, Ivan Buchinger admitted that he wasn’t fully focused for the fight, partly due to the fact that he was having contract issues with the Octagon, plus dealing with an RFA offer that was double the price.
Ondrej Novotny responded to this by talking about how the rival organization convinced him to ditch his existing contract and sign with them a few days before the tournament.
However, RFA promoter Boris Marhansky objected to this statement, saying that he had met Buchinger several times, for example at the last tournament, and he certainly did not encourage him to break the contract.
The Slovakian MMA fighter has now come out with a statement in which he defended the RFA, despite the fact that he ultimately opted for Oktagon, with whom he extended his contract.
“I would also like to comment on the information circulating on the internet. The RFA did not ask me to break my contract. It was just that we were discussing options after my Octagon contract would have expired. I didn’t have any pressure that affected my psyche in the fight,” he said on his Instagram.
However, we’ll have to wait a while for his next fight. Ivan is heading for surgery and will take at least a year off from wrestling.
