It was expected to be one of the best games of the gala. Two hard hitters who present an attractive style and know how to finish their opponents. Marek Mazuch and Jaime Cordero delivered a great entertainment that ended in a knockout.

A Slovakian soldier against a German hunk who never expected how far he would go in his career. At least that’s what he claimed in an interview with Ruik before the tournament. Both dream of a career rise, but one had to fall.

Marek Mazuch had the support of the home crowd, he was a slight favourite, but the first round slipped through his fingers. Jaime Cordero was able to open it up and had the upper hand. However, the Slovak has been having weaker first rounds and so an upswing was expected.

Thanks to the support of the crowd, the home fighter was able to get up to speed and from the second round he started to take the reins of the fight. Cordero landed a lot of hard shots, however, he tried to deft Mazuch by smiling after them and showing that he was fine. Even though he wasn’t sure on his feet.

By the third round, the German had physically dropped off, Mazúch continued to press and it was a matter of time before this one was over. It happened at 0:33, the Slovak flew at his opponent and gave him no chance.

“He was tough, but in the second round I started to take the reins of the match and then it went well. I landed some good punches in the first round, but I wasn’t naked or anything. Then sometimes I didn’t understand what Cordero stood for. I hit him hard and then he was smiling at me and I just wondered what the hell,” Mazuch was heard saying after the fight.

The Slovakian has moved closer to the top of the middleweight division and has some big challenges ahead of him. What’s next for him? Promoter Ondrej Novotny offered him a duel with Engiczek, who shone on his debut, in the second half of November.

Mazuch is willing to go for it, as long as his hands are fine after a tough fight. If the duel works out, we can look forward to another awesome brawl. Cordero will take a break for a change, but he’s won the hearts of the fans with his performance.
