Brichta about Oktagon: There were some tricks. I didn’t want to take half the money my opponent
Leo Brichta’s name has been much discussed in recent weeks. This is due to his transfer from the Octagon to the newly formed RFA organization. What does he say now in retrospect about the organization where he still has to fight one more fight due to his contract?
Leo Brichta’s name has been much discussed in recent weeks. This is due to his transfer from the Octagon to the newly formed RFA organization. What does he say now about the organization where he still has to fight one more fight because of his contract?
Leo Brichta is one of the most popular domestic MMA fighters. But he recently caused a stir when the new RFA organization announced him as their workhorse.
Fans were surprised, many were looking forward to the performance of the night collector at Octagon 18 and 20 fighting for a title in the same organization, but that is no longer going to happen.
Brichta has one more fight to wrestle before he moves on to the RFA. But why did he decide to make this move and what did he have to say about the new conditions and Oktagon?
“There were some finesse before my last fight. There were rumors that I turned down the fight. Which is not true, or like, I said I’ll take the fight, but I want to get more money for it, I don’t know why I should fight for like, roughly 3,000 euros when my opponent gets more than double that,” Brichta said on his Instagram.
“I said I want the same money. So of course it didn’t work out. So they brought me this opponent and I guess they expected the Frenchman to beat me, which didn’t happen. After the fight, they said that if I sign a new contract, I will get new money for this fight for Lapilus.
You don’t do that after the fight. Why didn’t I get a new contract before? That pissed me off. I’ve had about 10 fights in the Octagon and I don’t know why I’m getting dung on me and why I’m being treated like this,” he added.
He also added that the RFA has given him better terms, plus he will have new management. So he is happy with the concept of the new organisation, whose first tournament we can look forward to next spring.
Brichta will most likely face a fine from the Octagon because of the RFA press conference where he was announced as their fighter, although he still has a valid contract. It doesn’t expire until after the fight, which he says he’s ready for. It’s still unclear when the Octagon will give it to him though.
