Back door? In case Vémola doesn’t start against Pirates, there are some interesting names in the game
Karlos Vémola still refuses to back down and insists on his position. He wants to be the second man in the cage, not the first. If Octagon doesn’t agree to it, he says he won’t step in. Ondrej Novotny is keeping the back door open for this case.

The shaking is at its peak, and so is the patience of Ondrej Novotny, who in the MMA podcast Flight Through the World got really angry at Karlos Vemola for some of his comments.
Besides, the promoter of Oktagon refuses to give in to Terminator’s demand to enter the fight as a second, so the Olomouc native’s threat about his possible non-participation in the fight still stands.
However, there is also the possibility that Vémola will not be able to fully recover, or that he will overuse his injured hand and have other health complications. So it would make sense to have a backup.
And that’s exactly what Octagon is planning for all these cases. Novotny didn’t mention a specific name, but he did outline quite extensively who it could be.
“Honestly, there’s nobody in the rankings right now who could be in the running for the title. I offered the November fight with Bryczek to a Czech fighter with the understanding that if he wins, he will be the understudy for the title fight Pirate vs. Vémola. But it didn’t work out and as far as the rankings are concerned, I’m out,” the promoter of Oktagon let it be known.
Names like Patrik Kincl and Mikhail Ragozin started popping up in the comments during the stream. “ People are not stupid. Those who really follow it remember that I said we signed a multiple-time Cage Warriors champion. The names are there and we’re not going to be ashamed of any of them.”
Hope was then given to the fans with a social media post by Kincl, who announced that he was returning to full training in case something needed to be put out somewhere.
The Czech wrestler has previously let it be known that he will definitely not defend his title fight in the Octagon. He even asked for a rematch with Vemola, but he brushed the request off. But if Kincl had won the title, the fight would have had to happen.
So there are several scenarios on the table, which one will we see?
