The FABRIQ MMA organization held its second tournament on Saturday. This is a smaller brand, which is run by the legendary Attila Végh and which, of course, works with Oktagon.
That’s why this organization is undoubtedly attractive for fans of the Czechoslovak scene. In addition, the second tournament featured Eric Spicely, who could have faced Karlos Vémola in the Oktagon if he had defeated Marcin Naruszczka.
It was in the Octagon in September 2021 that Spicely ended his career, having failed to even beat Zdenek Polivka after Naruszczka. In the UFC, the now 36-year-old fighter has managed six fights. However, now he’s back, and victoriously so.
Spicely was also recently mentioned in connection with the Power Slap organization owned by UFC boss Dana White. The American said that there are really lousy financial conditions there, which are definitely not worth it.
He was challenged by Nikola Zlatev at a tournament in Nitra and he may have regretted it in the first round when Spicely put him in a clean choke, after which Zlatev had to tap out. Later, he took on an interesting challenge.
The American fighter asked the aforementioned Vegh, the head of the organization, to fight him. And what did he say? “Eric was smart. I have a fight scheduled and I have no opponent, so I will definitely accept this challenge,” the former Bellator champion let his voice be heard in the cage.
According to Slovakian outlet Sportnet, the fight will take place at the Fight Night Challenge, which would see the two veterans boxing each other. The gala is scheduled to take place in Trnava on April 13.
