Apollo has unfinished business with Kozma, but first he faces Gogoladze: It’s going to be a great fight, I deserve the title!
Leandro Silva, also known as Apollo, is on a quest for the Octagon title. To finally win it, he must make it through two fights. In the first, he will be challenged by Amiran Gogoladze, and in the second, it could be a sensational rematch. How does he feel about the current situation? The Brazilian spoke to Ruik about more than just that.
Leandro Silva, also known as Apollo, is on a quest for the Oktagon title. To finally win it, he must make it through two fights. In the first, he will be challenged by Amiran Gogoladze, and in the second, it could be a sensational rematch. How does he feel about the current situation? The Brazilian spoke to Ruik about more than just that.
He was very close to the title once, but he didn’t win it. He really hurt David Kozma, almost ended it. But the Pink Panther showed heart, stood up to the nonsense and defended his title. Leandro Silva has talked about a rematch several times since, saying he should have won the fight. Now he could see it coming.
For the Welterweight division has no champion and the Octagon has announced a mini-pyramid from which the new king of the division will emerge. Kozma and Ion Surdu will face each other on one side of it, while Apollo and Amiran Gogoladze will measure their strength on the other.
Both duels will take place in June in Eden, with the winners later battling it out for the rightful title. Amiran Gogoladze has already spoken exclusively to Ruik about how much this means to him and how much he is looking forward to the fight with the Brazilian. Now we’ve also briefly interviewed Leandro Silva.
“I feel great. Fighting is always an opportunity for me to create pressure on myself and outdo myself in what I have learned and what I am learning every day in training. Whether that will lead me to a title shot, I don’t know. But will I deserve it? Absolutely yes,” Apollo let slip in an interview with Ruik.
“But it’s not up to me. All I can say is that I will do my best as always to deliver a proper entertainment to all the fans who love the Oktagon, me and MMA,” said the popular Brazilian.
Apollo is looking forward to Eden and Gogoladze, he has unfinished business with Kozma
Amiran Gogoladze is a feared fighter. As he himself revealed, Andreas Michailidis or Louis Glismann turned down a fight with him. That’s also why he praised Leandro Silva greatly in an interview with Ruik. He appreciates that he can fight someone like that.
Apollo also speaks about his opponent with a lot of respect: “He is a great fighter with a different style. I like karate, taekwondo, wrestling. He reminds me of Michael Venom Page’s style. I think it will be an interesting fight.”
That he’ll be fighting in Eden is not something he’s worried about. But he’s happy. “Fighting in an arena, stadium or bar with many or few people is the same for me. I’m happy for what I do in the cage and I respect everyone who pays to see my fights,” he is clear.
“The interesting thing is that I always dreamed of being a footballer. When I was a kid, I wanted to play for a big football club in a packed stadium. That didn’t happen. Now I will have the chance to fight in a big football stadium. I never dreamed of that. Life is crazy,” he boasted of a nice paradox.
Finally, of course, he spoke about who he would like to see in a possible title fight if he beats Gogoladze: “ Surdu and Kozma have equal chances. They may have different styles, but whoever has the better strategy and can enforce it will win. I have no problem fighting either of them.”
“I chose to be a fighter. A fighter fights, that’s why I can fight both of them. It would be a great thriller with Kozma, a whole fight of drama. We have unfinished business together. But Surdu is new blood, he has the passion and it would also be an interesting fight,” he says.
“First and foremost I have to beat Gogoladze, then I can think about the next step and what I’m going to do. I’m getting older so I can’t do two things at once,” he concluded the topic with a smile.
