Although the OKTAGON 31 tournament, which will take place on Saturday, is currently being discussed, there is one unpleasant new piece of news regarding the next tournament in the sequence. Milos Petrasek is injured and will not be playing in the main event of OKTAGON Prime 5.
It was supposed to be a spectacular fight that could and should have given a hint as to how the situation in the welterweight division will develop after the champion Viktor Pest left the Octagon organization. Milos Petrasek was supposed to face Rafael Xavier.
However, the fight will not take place. Miloš Petrášek is injured and unfortunately will not be taking part in OKTAGON Prime 5, which will take place at the end of March in Šamorín, Slovakia.
He was injured while sparring with Patrik Kinclo, who is preparing for Saturday’s tournament, where he will fight for the middleweight title with Pirate.
“I’ll make a quick comment so no one says I’m pissed about the fight and don’t want to take it. I had an injury, I tore a muscle and it’s been about two or three months. I started training and I thought it was cool. But it snapped again in my sparring session with Patrik,” Petrasek revealed on the MMA Flight Around the World podcast.
“I went to the scan and they told me that if it happened again, it could snap off and then it would be a year of recovery before they would stitch it up. That’s why we decided not to have the fight now in March,” said the Czech fighter.
For now, it is unclear what will happen next with the fight. However, fans have expressed in comments on social media their wish for Xavier to face Stephan Pütz, and they would also like to see Robin Foshum in the cage again.
Despite the absence of Petrasek, Slovakia is expecting a great tournament. The spectators can look forward to the fights between Kertesz and Velickovic, and the former champion Legierski returns to the Octagon to be challenged by Kohout. Karol Rysavy and Frantisek Fodor will also be in action.
