A win over Siwiec? It was the worst performance I’ve ever done in the Octagon, Kozma admitted
David Kozma was close to his second straight defeat. But in the end he managed to win a close match on points against Lukasz Siwiec and was able to rejoice in advancing to the quarterfinals of Tipsport Gamechanger. How did he evaluate his performance?
Lukasz Siwiec was his equal opponent and in the end the match came down to a points decision, after which the Ostrava patriot was the happier fighter.
“For me, it was the worst performance I’ve done in the Octagon. It didn’t suit me at all that night. I’m sure I can perform better, and that will be a must in the next fight.
If I had fought Lohore like I did on Saturday, I would have lost. I am taking huge lessons from the fight and will do everything I can to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again in May,” Kozma said on his Instagram.
The crowd favourite was even nearly finished, with the hall watching silently to see if he could get out of the choke. Once the Pole broke free, the fans celebrated loudly.
“I was surprised he caught that choke there. I made a mistake. The choke was caught very well. I got out of it, though. It was probably the only time I felt threatened. I won the match, but I take it that I made a mistake that I can’t repeat and I have to learn from it,“ added.
Once again, he showed that we can’t expect him to tap out. He himself added afterwards that at worst his opponent would have put him to sleep, which fortunately he no longer had the strength to do.
However, Kozma needs to train hard before his next fight, as he can most likely look forward to it on May 20 at the O2 Arena. But the question is his health condition, which he will talk about at the press conference after the tournament.
