Marcelo has been loyal to Real Madrid for 15 years. But now it’s time to move on. The Brazilian legend has decided to finish his rich career at Olympiakos in Greece. And there, the fans gave him a rousing welcome.
The player with the most titles in Real Madrid history, captain during last year’s incredible Champions League run and one of the best left backs in history, if not the best. Marcelo is all of those things.
Unfortunately, however, his performances have dropped off a bit in recent years and he has become more of a non-playing captain at Real Madrid. Even so, he still had a positive impact on the cabin, which was evident in several memorable turnovers.
However, his contract expired in June and it was time to move on. Marcelo didn’t want to end his career just yet, so he chose Olympiakos and will be Tomas Vaclik’s new teammate.
And a star of that calibre is not welcomed at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium every day. That’s why the fans have prepared a really big welcome for the Brazilian legend.
A packed stadium set off a pyroshow, watched by Marcelo and his sons right from the pitch.
Marcelo will write his next chapter in Greece. How will he do?
