A very angry Richarlison: This season sucks! The Brazilian also spared no words for coach Conte

Tottenham Hotspur are bearing the brunt of being knocked out of the Champions League eight-finals. This is evidenced not only by the post-match statement of coach Antonio Conte, but also by the statement of Richarlison, who did not leave a dry thread on it. Tottenham Hotspur are bearing the brunt of being knocked out of the Champions League eight-finals. This is evidenced not only by the post-match statement of coach Antonio Conte, but also by the statement of Richarlison, who did not leave a dry thread on it. The Brazilian star didn’t mince words and was honest about what he thought of Tottenham’s current season.

Wednesday’s Champions League eight-final rematch didn’t go nearly as they imagined for the English side. Tottenham couldn’t score a single goal against the Rossoneri even on their home field and it can be said that AC Milan deservedly advanced.

Indeed, Antonio Conte’s charges created a minimum of goal scoring opportunities in the match, considering the men in the red and black jersey could have made the difference several times in the match.

The decisive moment of the whole match was probably the situation from the 77th minute, when Cristian Romero received a second yellow card for a really harsh foul on Theo Hernández and had to take an early shower.

Paradoxically, it was only with ten men that the home side created their biggest opportunity. Harry Kane’s header didn’t end up in the net. AC goalkeeper Mike Maignan made a brilliant save to finally decide the Milanese progress.

After the match Tottenham players were understandably angry and disappointed, but Brazilian Richarlison was probably among the most indignant.

This season sucks!

But Richarlison’s main criticism was of Tottenham’s coaching staff. The €58 million summer signing from Everton played only 50 minutes out of 180 against AC. The Brazilian international is clearly frustrated.

“I don’t understand. It went well, I was in the starting line-up during the wins over Chelsea and West Ham. And suddenly I was put on the bench and I played five minutes against Wolves. I asked why, but they didn’t say anything,” Richarlison told TNT Sports.

In this case, Richarlison was referring in particular to Conte’s stand-in assistant Christian Stellini. The Tottenham head coach has undergone gallbladder surgery in recent days. In his next statement, however, he does not understand the approach of Conte himself.

“I don’t understand. Yesterday he tested me for the starting line-up (he was in the starting line-up for the Champions League game – ed.) and today he puts me on the bench again,” complains the Nova Venecia native.

“This season, excuse the word, sucks. I don’t have the (necessary) minutes, I’ve had some injuries. But when I take the field, I give it my all,” the 25-year-old Brazilian forward made his frustration known.

Apparently, the current atmosphere at Tottenham is not very good. In addition to Richarlison’s indignation, coach Conte also spoke about a possible sacking after the game, and Spurs are facing an uphill battle to finish in the Premier League’s elite four teams.
