A perfect storm and tears of happiness at the end. Slovakian hope for the first time since giving birth in the Oktagon, fans celebrated the triumphant return

It was the summer of 2021 when Lucia Szabová made her last appearance in an MMA fight. Then came an unexpected pregnancy and with it, of course, a long break. On Saturday, she returned to the Oktagon after two years.
Moreover, in front of her home crowd in Bratislava, which celebrated her as a great heroine even before the start of the fight with her opponent Alexandra Andersröd. She faced her under the Underground rules.
It was her second match since giving birth. In an interview with Ruik, she also spoke about the one she had in Olomouc in the spring, which she lost. She also talked about how she was looking forward to the fight with the Swedish slugger and how parenthood has changed her life and thinking.
And how did her comeback go? Very well. It wasn’t easy, but she destroyed her opponent with the crowd’s support. She kept pushing, Andersröd had virtually no time to rest and you could tell she was very uncomfortable with Szabo’s style.
Silent Killer wanted to go for the finish, although she didn’t set any goals completely, but she had to accept that the match came down to points. Moreover, after three rounds, promoter Ondřej Novotný made her very tense as he asked for applause from the crowd, no matter who won.
But in the end Szabová was happy, as she couldn’t hold back the tears in her partner’s arms before the result was announced. Afterwards, in a post-match interview, she was grateful to the fans for their support and couldn’t help being moved.
She also brought the Slovaks their first home joy. Unfortunately, her friend Veronika Smolkova did not make it through the match in front of her and the euphoria of the Bratislava crowd was all the greater.
