One season in the PFL and that’s enough. The Polish organization KSW announced a new big name, former Octagon champion Viktor Pesta, who could be another draw for the tournament in Liberec.

Viktor Pešta was the second Czech in the UFC. He had five fights in the world’s best MMA organization between 2014 and 2017, winning two of them. However, he has faced top fighters like Derrick Lewis and Marcin Tybura, who are still in the top 10.

Subsequently, Peshta has featured in several other organizations, such as XFN, FNG and RCC, where he was no match for the legendary Aleksandr Emelianenko.

In 2019, he signed with Oktagon and immediately fought for the title against champion Michal Martinek. However, the latter broke his jaw early and knocked him out in the first round.

After that, Peshta moved up to the welterweight division, where he went on to win the belt. He won it in a fight with Stephan Pütz. Fans were hoping for a fight with Karlos Vemola, but unfortunately they didn’t get it.

The second Czech in the UFC has moved to the PFL and is fighting for a million dollars in the American organization. However, he didn’t fare too well there, getting knocked out in the first round in two fights and hasn’t been in the cage since June.

The question was what to do next. He was tempted to return to the domestic scene, but in the end he signed with Polish giant KSW. This organization is already organizing a tournament in Liberec in February.

It is not impossible that Peshta could present himself at the tournament in the north of Bohemia. However, the question is what kind of shape he is in.

It would be interesting if he returns to heavyweight and if his rematch with Martinek takes place on KSW soil. For the Czech public it would be an attractive fight in the future.

Currently, Pest boasts a positive record of 18-8. He’s still only 32 years old, so he could have some very interesting years of his career ahead of him. In fact, he posted a contract signing announcement on Instagram with the clear message, “A new era has begun.”
