A new coach for Chelsea? Luis Enrique has travelled to London, could lead the Blues as early as next week at the Bernabéu

It’s been a few days since Chelsea sacked Graham Potter. Immediately, speculation about the Blues’ new coach started, which more or less boiled down to two names – Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique. The Spanish coach has already travelled to London for talks.

Luis Enrique quit the Spanish national team after the 2022 World Cup, he has been taking a break since then and has not thought about a new job. It’s only been a few weeks since the Spanish coach gave permission to his agents to find him a new engagement.

And immediately a big opportunity opens up for him. Enrique, meanwhile, said in an interview with Cadena SER that he would like to take over the team from the new season, but the sudden sacking of Potter from Chelsea changed everything.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero reported early on Wednesday morning that Enrique had travelled to London where, if all goes well, he should iron out the details and seal a deal at Chelsea.

Romero’s words were confirmed by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, who also added that the Blues will continue to hold talks with Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked from Bayern Munich last week.

Spanish newspaper MARCA, for its part, reports that the possibility of Luis Enrique sitting on the bench at the Santiago Bernabéu next week in the Champions League quarter-finals is no longer just a theory.

It will all depend on how negotiations with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, the club’s rather peculiar president, go.

Whoever comes to Chelsea will have a very difficult job. He will have a squad worth millions at his disposal, the Blues have spent over €600 million this season alone. But it’s not working yet, the new coach will be under pressure and won’t get time to work, after all Boehly has already fired two coaches this season.
