A frustrated Mourinho did not hide his disappointment, banning the players from speaking to the media: Slavia deserved to win, we had a bad attitude and played terribly

Slavia Prague shone on Thursday, beating AS Roma at home. And deservedly so. José Mourinho searched in vain for positives after the match. The Portuguese strategist, on the contrary, acknowledged that the Susians won deservedly.

He himself had to watch the match on the ground of Prague Slavia only from the stands, serving his sentence. And yet. Otherwise, we would have watched how sharp and unpleasant José Mourinho can be.

The Slavists beat AS Roma 2-0, thus atoning not only for the defeat they suffered in Italy, but also in the last league round against Viktoria Plzeň. While Jindřich Trpišovský had only words of praise, the Portuguese strategist had exactly the opposite.

Moreover, Mourinho was so disappointed that he banned the players from talking to the media. The only footballer who was allowed at least a few words was Andrea Belotti. He revealed that the Italian team completely lacked personality on the pitch.

“Andrea spoke because it was right after the game. Nobody should speak because there is nothing more to say than what I have to say,” the AS Roma club website quoted the Portuguese as saying.

What did Mourinho say after the game?

Even José Mourinho himself didn’t want to talk too much after the game, but he did exchange a few words after the loss. And that he was happy for his charges? No.

“Slavia absolutely deserved the result, in a positive sense. We deserved the result in the same way. In a negative sense. I didn’t like anything. I’ve already talked to the players on the bench. I don’t normally do that because I get an adrenaline rush from being on the sideline. Thefact that I was watching the game from above, away from the pitch, gave me a different type of calm that allowed me to talk to the players right away,” says the Portuguese.

“Nothing was working. In the first game Slavia played similarly, we prepared a game plan for that, but nothing worked. The injury to Zalewski or playing El Shaarawy on the edge of defence could be used as an excuse, but we were so bad that I don’t even want to use that as an excuse,” he is clear.

“Few players had the right, professional attitude. I’m disappointed, I don’t want to talk anymore. We were terrible. Our best player, the only one I really liked because he went all in technically, tactically and mentally, was a 20-year-old who wasn’t even in the first team two years ago,” Mourinho praised Edoardo Bove.

According to him, Bove was the only one who played with the right attitude and quality. “Everyone else, including me, deserved to lose,” the Portuguese added.

AS Roma have a city derby weekend ahead of them. So losing to Slavia is a real slap in the face. But according to Mourinho, they are two completely different games and he is treating the defeat accordingly. But he will have his players to deal with.
