A bloodied Chepo delivered another hard knockout! That’s how hard he finished his brash challenger. Will there be a fight with Peñaz?
Bratislava did not get the expected duel, but even without Matej Peňáze, Vlasto Čepo presented himself at the OKTAGON 42 tournament on Saturday evening. His opponent was the dangerous and cheeky puncher Ion Taburceanu.
Bratislava did not get the expected duel, but even without Matej Peňáze, Vlasto Čepo presented himself at the OKTAGON 42 tournament on Saturday evening. His opponent was the dangerous and cheeky puncher Ion Taburceanu.
Vlasto Čepo probably won’t get the fight of his dreams. Matej Peñáz was supposed to fight him more than once, but it hasn’t happened yet and the Moravian fighter has a lasso from the UFC again.
Peňáz will probably fight for a contract in the best MMA organization on the planet in Dana White’s Contender Series this fall. Instead of him, the dangerous Ion Taburceanu was also in Bratislava.
The Moldovan fighter went into the fight with a 6-1 record. His confidence was definitely not lacking, as he finished all of the fights he won early, giving him confidence against the Slovakian star. He likes a shootout, so does Cepo.
It was expected to be a first-round split decision. And did we get it? Of course, even though it was a drama. Taburceanu showed in the first round that he certainly doesn’t have a futile attitude. But once Cepo was able to stuff him, he took the fight to the ground.
On the ground, Taburceanu was able to dominate and even opened up Chepo with a hard elbow to the forehead. He probably dominated the round, even though the two fighters didn’t do anything to each other.
And the second round was absolutely insane from both sides. All in the stance, Chepo looked exhausted, as if his legs were wobbling, but in the end he managed the situation and finished his opponent uncompromisingly.
For the first time in his career, Chepo didn’t win in the first round, but only in the second. He improved his record to 12-2. Taburceanu is now 6-2.
What about the fight with Peñaz? Moravan stepped into the cage after the Chepo fight and promised to deliver the fight. However, it will all depend on how Money is doing health-wise.
