Filip Macek already knows his opponent, with whom he will fight for the Oktagon bantamweight title. It will be Farid Basharat, who took on Jann Elonen-Kulmala. How differently did the prelims card matches turn out in Štvanici, where the OKTAGON 26 tournament was held?

The main match of the prelims card was won by Farid Basharat and Janne Elonen-Kulmala. They completed the pyramid that was to determine the participants of the Oktagon bantamweight title fight.

Until now it was certain that Filip Macek, who defeated Luca Iovine, would fight for the title, now he knows his opponent. That will be Farid Basharat, who managed to dominate his Finnish opponent throughout the fight.

In the third round, he forced him to tap out twice with chokes. The first time the referee didn’t see it and so Kulmala told his opponent to grab him again as he was holding him, and indeed he did. The second knockdown no longer escaped the referee’s notice.

In a post-match interview, Basharat himself confirmed this and revealed that though he tried to hate his opponent, he just couldn’t. Just because of his fish boots, with which he won over the local fans.

Filip Macek then let it be known that it was time for him to go into the gym and not come out until the match. He is aware of Basharat’s great qualities and it seems that we definitely have something to look forward to in the title match!

However, the opening card of OKTAGON 26 offered other interesting matches. The whole gala started with a win for Daniel Shkvor, who won by TKO over Ilya Lupinov in the first round.

However, the aforementioned fight was very much about an illegal knee strike that Lupinov cashed in from Shkvor, with Lupinov clearly shaken up. Skvor was deducted a point, but it didn’t change the result.

Two fights followed that ended on points. In the first one Dawid Kareta defeated Peter Gabal after a quite dominant performance, in the second one Ondřej Raška won against Daniel Brunclík.

Magdaléna Šormová then gave Chiara Pencova the first early stoppage of her professional career when she forced her to tap out with one second left in the first round.

Felix Klinkhammer enjoyed a victorious debut in the Octagon, managing to dominate Anatoly Tarasenko for the entire fight. However, he won on points. It should be mentioned that for the first time in his career his fight did not end in the first round.

The talented Tereza Bledá got the fans fired up before the main event of the prelims card. She took on a much more experienced opponent and managed to finish her off on a submission just before the end of the first round.
