New contract for Coufal! Hammers fans push the club, see Cech as an underrated workhorse
When he came to England for a few million euros, Hammers fans feared failure. But Vladimir Coufal quickly won over the London fanatics as well as the coaching staff and on Thursday he played his 150th game for West Ham.
When he came to England for a few million euros, Hammers fans feared failure. But Vladimir Coufal quickly won over the London fanatics as well as the coaching staff and on Thursday he played his 150th game for West Ham.
Vladimir Coufal is in his fourth season at the club since arriving in the summer of 2020 from Slavia. On Thursday, he played his 150th game in Hammers colours when he started against Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League quarter-final rematch (1-1).
New contract for the worker
When West Ham published their annual post with Coufal’s photo, fans rushed to the comments with congratulations and also requests towards the club’s management regarding a new contract.
“He deserves a contract! Anunderrated player who is fighting for a character,” wrote fan Tom in a liked comment under the instagram post.
Hammers fans have fallen in love with both Czech national team players for their love of the club. Coufal, for example, had a worse season last season, but fans always respected him because he never missed a beat, even when he was underperforming.
Finally the first goal?
Alongside the praise, there were also jokes in the comments about Coufal waiting for his first goal in the club colours. The Czech defender was very close to it last time round, but Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno eventually saved it.
“The best guy! He’s giving his all. Hammer through and through,” continued supporter Ken. Anyway, the club, like Coufal, must address the situation.
The player will be 32 in the summer, an age at which buying a right-back is a certain risk. On the other hand, the Czech international is still one of the league’s best assistants among defenders.
