The Liverpool deal? In recent days, the football world has been abuzz with reports that current Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly agreed a deal to join Liverpool at Anfield Road. But as Liverpool’s potential replacement for Jürgen Klopp has expressed himself, there is no deal.
Liverpool’s current coach Jürgen Klopp will leave Anfield Road at the end of the season after nine years to take a break after this challenging engagement at the famous English club. But the club’s management must understandably look for a replacement.
One of them is certainly Ruben Amorim, the coach who currently leads Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese is already a very positively rated coach.
In fact, he led his team to the championship title in 2021. What is more, Sporting is also top of the table in the current edition of the Portuguese top flight with 71 points. It is not surprising that Amorim is on the list of other clubs as a possible replacement.
Bayern Munich, for example, who will part ways with Thomas Tuchel after the season. A complication for some suitors could be the exit clause, which is set at €20 million in the Sporting coach’s contract.
However, according to the latest Sky Sports reports, Amorim has reportedly just agreed a deal with Liverpool. But as it now stands, this information was not based on the truth.
No deal exists, says Amorim
“I have not met with Liverpool, we have not had any talks together. There is no agreement between us, it’s not true,” Amorim commented on the speculation that has circulated the football world in recent days.
“I am the manager of Sporting, I want to win here and I have not met with any other club. Nothing has been agreed. Stop this story. This is the last time I will talk about my future,” the current Lisbon coach added to the speculation.
