Kaprizov was on a rampage

Minnesota forward Kirill Kaprizov shined in the Carolina Hurricanes vs. Minneosta Wild (2:5). He was instrumental in his team’s win with three goals. It was the third hat trick of his overseas career.

The home team, which occupies the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, was definitely the favourite. On the other hand, the Minnesota team is not having a great season and is at the tail end of the Western Conference. However, Carolina only led early in the game after Czech forward Martin Nečas scored his 11th goal of the season.

After that, the Wild took the reins into their own hands and also taught Carolina a lesson in productivity. In addition, Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson held the team together with 40 saves. While Antii Raanta in the Hurricanes’ goal had a bad day, he had three of his 17 shots. So, thanks to the performances of Kaprizov and Gustavsson, the Minnesota team took a well-deserved victory.

Patrick Roy celebrates his first win as coach of the NY Islanders

Legendary Canadian goalie Patrick Roy and Hockey Hall of Fame member returned to coaching after seven and a half years after replacing current Islanders coach Lane Lambert on the bench. He returned to coaching after a huge hiatus after abruptly resigning as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche on August 11, 2016.

His debut on the Islanders’ bench was a triumphant one. The Islanders were able to beat a strong Dallas team (3:2) in overtime on home ice, thanks to Bo Horvat, who scored the winning goal in the 41st second of overtime.

The New York Islanders ended their streak of four straight defeats. They are back in sight of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello engaged Roy with the belief that he would carry the Islanders into the playoffs. And he’s relying heavily on his charisma to squeeze the most out of his players.

Roy has already seen immediate success as a coach in the QMJHL in his first season, leading the Quebec Remparts to the Memorial Cup. And after eight years in junior, he saw immediate success as head coach on the Colorado Avalanche bench.

In the 2013-14 season, he captured the Central Division with the team and won the Jack Adams Award, the trophy for the best coach of the season. However, he then abruptly left the coaching staff prior to the 2016-17 season as his vision for the team’s future direction was not fulfilled.
