World No. 1 Iga Swiatekova had huge problems with American Collins in the second round. Although she was already down 1:4 in the deciding set, she managed to turn the match around and after almost three hours of battle she was able to enjoy the progress.
She did not underestimate anything in the first set against representative of the Czech Republic. Although she had to fight off two break points in the third game, she did not lose her serve.
In the sixth game of the match, on the other hand, she was able to take away her 19-year-old opponent’s serve, which proved to be the deciding factor in the first set. The Pole took the first set 6:3 in 45 minutes.
At the beginning of the second set the players held their serve without much difficulty. Everything changed in the fifth game when the world number one created a break point opportunity. However, Noskova was able to turn it away thanks to her great service.
Swiatek had another opportunity to break serve in the seventh game of the second set. However, the 50th player of the WTA ranking resisted again and took the lead 4:3.
