The new star of the Oktagon is not thinking about the UFC. I’ll knock out Magard and go for the title, Cartwright says
He is still new to the Octagon, but his goal is clear. Jack Cartwright is here for the title. But he’s got a tough fight ahead of him. Standing in his way is Jonas Magard. The winner will challenge the champion Felipe Lima. How does he like it in the Czechoslovakian organization and what are his goals?

11-1 record, former Cage Warriors champion, he’s up for a UFC contract in 2022. But he didn’t get his chance in Dana White’s Contender Series and it was here that he lost for the first time. Otherwise, however, Jack Cartwright has an impressive resume.
In him, the Oktagon has acquired an excellent fighter and an interesting character for its “circus”, as Ondrej Novotny and Pavol Neruda like to call their organization. The Englishman himself is enthusiastic about his involvement in the Czechoslovak organization.
“Other organisations were also interested, but when I saw galas in Prague, Bratislava or Germany, I wanted to be part of something like this. To fight in big halls with a fantastic atmosphere. A couple of my friends were also part of Oktagon and they recommended it to me. The icing on the cake was when I found out there was going to be a tournament in Manchester,” the English prospect told Max MMA.
It was in Manchester that Cartwright had his first fight. He defeated Junior Assis by uncompromising submission. He was subsequently thrown into the cage by the shark Jonas Magard. The shark, however, became a mere fish in the cage. Verbally, the Englishman had the upper hand.
When Magard and Cartwright meet, they have a lot to say to each other. Most recently on the excellent Oktagon Face to Face, where the story of their battle was told. They will square off in the cage on January 27 in Newcastle at the OKTAGON 52 gala.
Jack Cartwright isn’t thinking about the UFC right now
As mentioned, Jack Cartwright was already close to a UFC contract. However, he didn’t get his chance. “I didn’t put on my best performance, but I wouldn’t have done anything differently. Life is what it is. I would never be where I am if I hadn’t made mistakes in the past,” says the 29-year-old fighter.
It was the first loss of his career. He didn’t fight for more than a year after it. He says it was a tough time. He also had to deal with problems in his personal life. Now he could be thinking about how to get into the world championship league as soon as possible.
“I’ve dreamed of the UFC my whole career. Everybody wants to win the Cage Warriors title and then go to the UFC. I won the title there and defended it three times, but the offer never came. For that reason, I stopped thinking about it. Especially since I signed with the Oktagon. I’m just thinking about the Magard fight. The Oktagon does fantastic tournaments, I want to be a part of them. I believe the fans will respect me, enjoy my fights. I’m not interested in the UFC right now. I’m onlythinking about Magard and the title in the Oktagon,” reports the English fighter.
Cartwright sees Shark in particular as a great athlete and a physically well-prepared person. However, he describes himself as a fighter who wants to be athletic. So he intends to rely on his fighting skills, Magard says on his athleticism.
That is also why he trusts himself. “I’m going to knock him out. Being a champion is my ambition. But first I have to beat Jonas. The title is all I want. I’m the champion. I always have been. It’s in my heart. I won the title in the last organization, I’ll win it here. It’s just a matter of time,” Cartwright concluded the topic.
