Timo Werner back in the Premier League
German striker Timo Werner started his career at Stuttgart, from where he transferred to RB Leipzig for 23 million euros. There he proved to be an excellent goalscorer and earned a transfer to Chelsea London in 2020.
At the time, the German transferred for 53 million euros, but the engagement did not go well at all. He was often the laughing stock when he failed to score goals. It was no wonder then that he returned to Leipzig after two years, this time for 23 million.
But he didn’t find his lost form in his beloved Leipzig. This time it was mainly due to injuries. So the 27-year-old striker will try again in London. However, he is not returning to Chelsea, but to rival Tottenham.
The Roosters have acquired the German striker on a six-month loan deal. The loan deal would not include an option for a permanent transfer, so Werner will return to Germany again in the summer.
Manchester United have also shown interest in the loan deal and are looking for a defender in addition to a striker in this transfer window. However, Erik ten Hag eventually decided to look for another goalscorer on the market.
And as already reported by renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Werner will be unveiled as Tottenham’s winter signing in the coming days. The London outfit will cover the player’s wages for six months.
The German striker has appeared in eight Bundesliga games in the current season after an injury, in which he scored two goals. He made four more starts in the Champions League but did not register any goals. He comes to Tottenham after his injury is healed with the hope that his shooting potential will be reawakened.
